Postdoctoral Fellow

University of California, Davis

Dr. Elizaveta Okorokova is a postdoctoral fellow in the Neuroprosthetics Lab at the University of California, Davis and a member of the BrainGate team since 2024. Her research focuses on developing multimodal brain–computer interfaces (BCIs) that enable richer, more expressive communication. She is also interested in how sensory feedback shapes motor control and aims to integrate these principles into future BCIs. Her work at BrainGate is supported by the 2025 ALS Scholars in Therapeutics award from the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS, ALS Finding a Cure, and FightMND.

Elizaveta earned her PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Chicago, where she worked with Professor Sliman Bensmaia as part of the Cortical Bionics Research Group. Her doctoral research examined the neural mechanisms underlying hand motor control and somatosensation, contributing to the development of bidirectional neural prostheses for people with spinal cord injury and limb amputation.
