Aparna earned her MS in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego, where she worked with Dr. Vikash Gilja to develop vocal neuroprostheses based on songbirds. After spending 2 years at Amazon Alexa developing voice assistant technology, she joined the UC Davis Neuroprosthetics Lab as a PhD student in 2023. Her current research focuses on decoding speech paralinguistics to restore naturalistic and expressive speech.
