Bayardo Lacayo
Clinical Neurotechnology Research Assistant
Massachusetts General Hospital
As a Clinical Neurotechnology Research Assistant, Bayardo conducts experiments with participants using the BrainGate system, visiting them at their residences to collect data for various BrainGate projects. These projects aim to advance the field of brain-computer interfaces by improving our ability to decode neural signals and apply them to control technologies such as computer cursors, brain-to-text systems, speech devices, and robotics.
Bayardo holds a B.A. in Neuroscience from Pomona College. During their undergraduate studies, they worked in several labs, including the King Lab, where they investigated the effects of environmentally induced stress on learning and memory, and the Luo Lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where they studied the impact of loneliness on Alzheimer’s disease. After graduating, Bayardo managed the BrainMind Internship before joining the BrainGate team. Their goal is to develop accessible neurotechnology for widespread public use.
