Dr.Vilela’s research focus on real time implementations of decoding algorithms with applications to brain-computer interfaces.

Dr.Vilela holds a B.Eng in Control Engineering from Federal University of Itajuba, M.Sc from LNCC (National Laboratory for Scientific Computing, Brazil) and Ph.D from ITQB/New University of Lisbon, Portugal. He was a visiting student at UT M.D.Anderson and Georgia Tech from 2006-2009, a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School from 2010-2014 and an instructor at UT Southwestern 2014-2015.
